Uzi Sub Machine Gun

The most popular Israeli made weapon in the world and one of the best sub-machine guns in use for over 50 years.  The Uzi Sub Machine Gun was designed and developed by Major Uziel Gal in the late 1940’s and was first introduced to the Israel Defense Forces in 1954, first to special forces units and 2 years later to the army in general.  Its compact design, rapid rate of fire, easy maintenance and ruggedness first saw operation in the 1956 Suez campaign and later in the 1967 Six Day War, where Israeli troops praised the weapon for being perfect for close quarter combat and especially when clearing trenches and bunkers.  The Uzi was issued to IDF forces until its phasing out during the 1980’s.  Uzi Sub Machine Gun variants such as the Micro Uzi and Uzi Pro are still in use by IDF and police special forces.
The Uzi is sold to over 90 countries for use by military, law enforcement and civilians.
